About me:
I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant with a Year Three class. I assist my class teacher with the day to day running and organisation of lessons. My main focus is working with small groups of children in and out of the classroom who struggle to keep up with the rest of the class. I use a variety of techniques to clarify tasks by re-wording them or using more relatable examples and explanations for these children, enabling them to complete their work to a high standard with confidence and pride. Alongside my duties during lesson time, I am also completing the Better Reading Partnership scheme with three children whom I meet with three times a week. I am responsible for planning the sessions in advance, monitoring each child’s progress every week and handing in a detailed progress report at the end of each term to the scheme co-ordinater.
During my time at University, I was heavily involved in Student Media, particularly the radio station, GU2 Radio, where I was an active presenter and Assistant Station Manager. Since graduating, I have also worked as a broadcaster within the radio industry, reading travel bulletins for Global Radio and the BBC.
What I do when I am not tutoring:
I am passionate about music, and am interested in all genres. My love for radio allows me to share this passion with people other than just my peers, which has also enabled me to expand on my musical knowledge. I particularly enjoy going to gigs and festivals, and have been privileged enough to see a wide variety of artists. I am an outgoing person, and enjoy socialising with my friends. I like going to the theatre and I am an avid reader who enjoys a wide range of literature; which nicely complements my love for travelling. I have been fortunate enough to travel to a number of countries around the world and experience different cultures first hand
