About me:
I began my career working for the Metropolitan Police Service as a Communications Officer. I answered 999 emergency calls and radio dispatched. Such a highly demanding role meant I was able to become more articulate, concentrate on what the problem was and how best to solve it quickly, and also to prioritise workload. I studied my Bachelors and Masters part time while working full time and achieved great results. Having been privately educated, working for the MPS meant I could appreciate for the first time how social problems in London stem often from a lack of good education. After 9 years I left the MPS keen to start making a practical, permanent difference to the lives of children in London.
I was accepted by the Teach First programme as a participant . I have deferred my start to Sept 2016 keen to gain more experience of working one-to-one and small group tutoring. I am an analytical person, able to look at a problem from many different angles. I believe every child can reach their potential and beyond in Mathematics. Often an orthodox way of solving a problem doesn’t make sense for every child. That’s where a great tutor can help.
What I do when I am not tutoring:
I swim very regularly and like to read most things from online news to novels and innovative education practice articles. I play cricket in the summer. I have a deep connection with India and travel there whenever possible. I fundraise for good causes whenever possible as well as spend time with friends discovering new places and new things about London. I most importantly though love to spend time with my beautiful daughters and wife.
